TWO:

Update Steve`s post for Sunday Jan 15

The order of the day is to do some brushing from the trail at Young’s Road in Glen Orchard south to the Bob Kenwright Memorial Trail in Bala. We hope that the cold weather coming on Friday will help to tighten up the swamps and make the day more manageable. Looking forward to seeing some of you….

Port Carling Sled Bridge

A picture(s) is worth a thousand words.  Thank you all!!!   We had good representation from a lady (who never stopped) and a bunch of guys.

Without the Trillium Plowing we would have had trouble getting in so thank you.   Tractor man ..well he saved the day…

Hopefully Steve the other Steve and Sean can add some pics as well.

The pictures show what it will look like and where we are today.

Muskoka Trail Situation

Hello everyone, just a last minute update on our trail situation. Discussions are still on going with the Government and the Landowners so all trails North of Bala will again be closed. That is C114 North as well as C102D from Brandy Lake to Bass Lake Restaurant are “CLOSED”. The system to the South of Bala is open for riding. That includes C114 South from Bala to the C101D intersection, C101D from Southwood Road to the “C” trail junction as well as Trail #17 to Nine Mile lake are open. Also “C” trail is open South to the B105 junction and North to the Moon River Bridge connecting to MacTier trails. Trail #21 is also open to Big Bay on Georgian Bay. All these trails are “OPEN LIMITED”  so please be careful out there. we plan to keep these trails open as long as we are able and get some cold weather and snow to be able to start grooming on a regular basis. we will also be keeping in contact with the MSR office and as soon as we get the “GO” we will start to groom the trails now closed. Please respect our landowners and stay off closed trails.

Brandy Lake Work

I just want to send out a HUGE “Thank You” to the three guys, Sean Roberts, John Walsh and Tony Molica who showed up at 9:00am on Saturday morning (having fight their way through 5″ of freshly fallen wet snow) to help do some tree removal on only 24 hours notice and no machinery to assist !  The day was a huge success as we were able to remove about 40 trees to widen a section of C102D. About 28 trees were the normal 10″-12″ in diameter but the rest were anywhere up to 20″ and a few even larger! A great job done safely and expediently.

We now have another section that the Husky will be able to get through without banging up the protection cage around the cab. Next Saturday, weather permitting, I would like to again get a small crew together for and get another section widened out as well. As long as we are not yet able to sled, we may as well get as much widening done as possible. This will allow us to move through the trails with the groomer at a much faster rate allowing us to do more trail every night! If anyone can help out please let me know and I will start planning where we will go.

Thanks, and pray for COLD weather and then SNOW!!!!
